Life Sciences

One thing that COVID-19 has shown us: The medical field is crucial for people’s wellbeing, and correct and prompt communication world-wide can save lives. Precision/Accuracy and clarity are the most important factors in my opinion when it comes to medical texts.

Clinical trials/studies.

Many clinical trials are not just based in one country. As Germany, Austria and Switzerland have quite a huge involvement in clinical trials. Approximately, 7% of the world’s clinical trials are conducted in Germany. This is why translation is that field is so significant. The types of texts include: Protocols, Informed Consent Forms, Patient Leaflets, Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs), HCP-to-patient emails/letters, HCP-to-HCP emails/letters, notifications for ethics committees etc.

Websites.

My work has also included the translations of websites of big pharmaceutical companies. A website is always a way to get people’s attention and in the medical field, often to inform them. They create a community for supporting patients and loved ones, who care for them.

Pharmaceuticals.

This is where accuracy and precision is even more crucial. An incorrect letter or number can really have a major impact on someone’s well-being and — without being extremely dramatic — can kill people. Past translations include Summaries of Product Characteristics (SmPCs), Patient Leaflets and Labels.

Other work.

I do also work with general information leaflets on diseases like Crohn’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Pulmonary Fibrosis and many more. The creation of PowerPoint presentations for doctors as well as patients has been part of my work for many years. If you need an article translated in German, I can certainly help you with that.
